The AI Psychosis Summit
When: Thursday, April 30th
Where: 93 Canal St, NY
With exhibitions, talks, and performances from one half of Danger Testing, Jamey Gannon, SHL0MS, Ruby Thelot, Yung Algorithm, and many others, the AI Psychosis Summit is happening this Thursday in the heart of Dimes Square. As soon as I learned about this, I wanted to know what AI Psychosis actually meant, so I went straight to the organizers.
Bunny, one of the organizers, described the event on a recent episode of Monitoring The Situation as a celebration of the "fugue states" that arise when you start working with LLMs and processing the implications of AGI. Quasimatt, another organizer, wants to highlight people who use AI to "queen out and express themselves." That framing is pretty radical when you consider that most people, in Quasimatt's own words, "want to use AI to optimize a workflow or build a trading bot." The best events create friction with whatever the dominant conversation is, and this one leans all the way in.
So many people, including me, have had ideas of things to build that they haven’t had the skills or resources to pull off until now. The AI Psychosis Summit is about celebrating the capacity of AI to accelerate the process of creating by lowering the barrier to making stuff.
The AI conversation is dominated by anxieties of losing your job to AI and being doomed to the permanent underclass, or the AGI cold war happening with China. We were more interested in the toys, personal tools, and creative projects that many people became empowered to build using AI. We wanted to make a platform for people to show off their bespoke 1 person TAM apps/personal software and an environment to learn about other people’s unique processes
This is the premise of the AI Psychosis Summit – a celebration and a showcase of how different artists, creatives, and technologies are using AI in their daily lives.
Greed is loud af and creativity is quiet. There’s plenty of creative people using artificial intelligence as a paintbrush and code as a canvas.
It’s the first time in history where creatives are empowered to use code, the barrier to entry is non existent with agentic coding .No ones waiting for permission in New York City and we’re just trying to show off the people in Manhattan already making cool shit. The summit creates a scalable platform for people who aren’t making scalable products
This one is sure to be one for the books, RSVP here.
